Ivan Doxtator is a member of the Onyta’a:ka (Oneida) Nation and founder of First Nations Counseling Ministries, a Christian non-profit dedicated to consulting and equipping North American indigenous groups, based in O’Fallon, Mo.
Four presentations will precede Doxtator’s talk. From 6:45 to 7:00 pm, Conoy storytellers Tina and Dana Marks will tell Native American folk tales, including an account of “How the Animals Got Fire.”
Beginning at 6:15, Haudenosaunee folk artist Mary Ann Robins will demonstrate Native American quill work, Lenape artist Ruth Py will show backstrap weaving and Lenape teacher Lanie Buckwalter will let visitors handle pottery, furs, feathers and other items associated with Native peoples in Pennsylvania.
